In 1965, the Government revised the development plans and came out with bold policies outlining how KNTC would promote and increase the participation of indigenous people in the wholesale and retail trade. The plan stated that with regard to wholesale trade, the agent for Government policy would be KNTC, which would become the sole distributor of essential commodities consumed countrywide. The Corporation would also participate in the wholesale distribution of a wider range of products.
After incorporation, KNTC set out to expedite its mandate, which was primarily to assist the indigenous people take part in the national entrepreneurship. The Corporation, assumed additional functions as spelt out in the successive development plans and through occasional Government directives through different circulars.
The political, economic and social changes that the country has currently undergone, particularly in the last two decades have necessitated re-examination of the Corporation's current position and future direction in order to respond effectively to its mandate. This plan provides the strategic direction for the Corporation over the next five years (2009/10 to 2013/2014).The Corporation's Strategic Plan is available on our downloads page.
